- stopping and slowing maneuvers at low speeds
- vessel motion kinematics (drift angle, angular velocity, pivot point)
- impact of vessel dimensions and loading on maneuverability
- navigating in confined waters (shallow areas, canals)
- vessel interactions during passing/overtaking
- wind and current effects on ship handling
