Specialized training preparing captains and officers for safe navigation in extreme Arctic and Antarctic conditions. Participants will acquire skills in voyage planning considering specific hazards and navigational system limitations at high latitudes.

Certificate
Certificate issued by the Maritime Office, valid for 5 years. Renewal requires documented 2-month practice on polar ships within the last 5 years.
Training goal
Preparation of essential:
- equipment, maps and publications for voyage planning
- voyage plans based on data from appropriate sources
- analysis of navigational and communication system limitations
- compliance assessment with regional regulations
- navigational hazard identification
- determination of ship position, courses and times per standards
